Guide to South Padre Island
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND

Getaway and Loosen Up On South Padre Island

Enjoy The Uncrowded Beaches

Weather you want to splash in the waves or just enjoy a peaceful stroll you'll find plenty of room to do it here. What makes South Padre's beaches some of the best in the world is no crowds. There's plenty of room to have a picnic, toss a Frisbee or fly a kite. During off-season it common to see only a handful of people on the beach, and this is the beach next to the condos and hotels. Even during the busiest holidays like 4th of July and spring break you can still find you a nice spot to call your own.

Texas law grants public access to most of the Gulf shore. The entire 37 miles of the island's beach is freely accessible all the time. Even if you don't have a beachfront condo there are numerous access points for vehicles and pedestrians on the southern end of the island.

Enjoying a sunset with the family.

Just because you can find plenty room on the beach doesn't mean that there isn't plenty of other things to do. There are ample distractions from the beach. With over fifty restaurants and thirty-five bars you won't feel like a castaway. You can enjoy boating and fishing, live music and dancing, bird and dolphin watching, or ride tubes at Schlitterbahn Beach Waterpark.

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND

The right place anytime of year. South Padre Island is a great year-round vacation resort located at the same latitude as Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The Island enjoys a sub-topical environment with cool breezy winters, and warm summer days. My favorite times are during the early fall and early spring when day time temperatures range between 70 & 80 degrees. The winter average temperature is 65 degrees, a summer average temperature of 82 degrees and an average of 253 days of sunshine.
